US Nuclear Corp. will provide a radiation detection drone to Ukraine to help survey and monitor radiation levels remotely from the air and safeguard local personnel.
The Canoga Park manufacturer said on Monday that the DroneRAD radiation detection system will first go to Solar System Resources in Poland, which will arrange transportation into Ukraine.
The country, currently under attack from Russia, has 15 nuclear reactors located at four major nuclear power plants, including the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Other facilities in Ukraine also have radioactive materials including radioactive material waste disposal sites, hospitals, labs and universities, which are all at risk of releasing radioactive contamination as the fighting and bombing intensifies, the company said in a release.
Drone surveillance provides the best way to safely monitor radiation levels to ensure that local civilians and personnel are not exposed to dangerous levels, the company added in its release.
Shares of US Nuclear (UCLE) closed at 43 cents on the over-the-counter market.
