After starting her career as a senior vice president of production at New Line Cinema in Burbank, Langley moved on to Universal Pictures where she has been for the past 23 years. There she has climbed the ranks of executive leadership from president of production to co-chair and then chair of Universal Studios. She then was promoted to chair of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. Last year Langley was named chair of NBCUniversal Studio Group. In the new role, Langley continues to leverage her longstanding relationships with content creators to unlock a cross-portfolio creative strategy including programming, distribution and marketing. During her time with the company Langley has expanded a number of its popular franchises including Fast & Furious,” “Pitch Perfect” and “Despicable Me.”
Langley is also involved in the company’s diversity and inclusion initiatives and helped Universal Filmed Entertainment Group launch its Global Talent Development & Inclusion department. In 2022, Langley was named among Business Insider’s “10 People Transforming Business.” She is the recipient of the 2023 UCLA’s Game Changer Award; the 2018 Producers Guild of America’s Milestone Award; and the 2016 Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation Pioneer of the Year Award.
