AmaWaterways’ co-founder Schreiner has been nicknamed “the Godfather of River Cruising.” Schreiner, with Kristin Karst, established AmaWaterways nearly two decades ago. The Calabasas company’s 24 ships offer river cruises in Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa. After a turbulent period for the cruise industry caused by the pandemic, AmaWaterways returned to the rivers of Europe in 2021. AmaWaterways this year debuted Seven River Journeys, which are sails along seven rivers through 14 European countries that last up to 46 nights. In 2019, the city of Calabasas honored AmaWaterways as Business of the Year.
