Stocks were up across the board for the two-week period ended Jan. 2. The Dow Jones Industrial and the S&P 500 finished the period up 1.2 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively. The NASDAQ finished up 2.2 percent, while the Valley 50 Index had the best week, rising 3.8 percent. The best local performer was ReachLocal Inc., which rose nearly 22 percent, with Ceres Inc. the second best performer, up 16.4 percent. The worst local performers over the past two-week period were THQ Inc., and Dole Food Co. Inc., down nearly 39 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
