Aviation David C. Miller has joined Mercury Air Center’s fixed base operation in Burbank as general manager. Miller was most recently the manager of Garrett Aviation Services FBO in Los Angeles. He is a current member, and former chairman of the board, of the National Air Transportation Association. Banking Eric C. Salveson and Brent R. Lister have joined commercial mortgage banking firm AMI Capital Inc. to head the opening of AMI’s Los Angeles office in Sherman Oaks, where both will serve as managing directors. Their responsibilities will include business development as well as loan solicitation, project evaluation and underwriting. Salveson is a former regional vice president of Mellon Mortgage Co. Lister is a former vice president at Mellon Mortgage Co. Entertainment Donna Davidson has joined Burbank-based BRC Imagination Arts as director of project development. She will be responsible for developing new projects for the company and evaluating client needs. Most recently, Davidson was sales and marketing manager with the themed entertainment group of the Jack Morton Co. While there, she managed all project development, marketing and public relations activities for the group. Jim Fredrick has joined Warner Bros. Theatrical Marketing as senior vice president of creative advertising. Most recently, Fredrick was president of marketing for Castle Rock Entertainment, where his responsibilities included the creation and supervision of advertising materials and marketing efforts for all of Castle Rock’s feature films. In his new post, he will continue creating advertising materials for all Castle Rock product as well as for other Warner Bros. motion pictures. Mitchell Solomon (PRODUCTION: PIC LA NEWSMAKERS 8-24) has been hired as president of North Hollywood-based Film Roman Inc.’s new feature film division. Solomon joins Film Roman from Filmcolony, where he was senior vice president of production and supervised development of “54” with Mike Myers and Ryan Phillippe, “She’s All That” for director Rob Iscove and “Cider House Rules” to be directed by Lasse Hallstrom. Daniel Tibbets has been named to the newly created position of vice president of development at Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment. Tibbets will be based at the company’s recently acquired Ray-Art Studios in the West Valley. Tibbets will be responsible for developing film, television and home video productions, and strategic alliances with both domestic and foreign production and distribution entities. Tibbets previously was manager of Eyemark Entertainment’s TV programming and development. Insurance Wesley Cowling has been appointed branch manager for the Glendale branch office of Amwest Surety Insurance Co. In his new position, Cowling will serve Amwest clients in eight Southern California counties, Hawaii and Guam. Cowling joined Amwest in 1997 as senior regional underwriter in the company’s Dallas regional office. Manufacturing Michael G. Angel has joined Pacoima manufacturing firm Astro Arc Polysoude Inc. as vice president of international business development. Angel comes from Digital Sound Corp. in San Diego, where he served as the business development executive responsible for major account acquisitions. Also, Charles W. Glibert is the new regional sales manager for the Southeast U.S. Previously, he was a welding engineer at the Babcock and Wilcox Co. where he developed the welding programs and supervised welding operations. In addition, Jeffrey A. Mann has joined the firm as regional sales manager for the Midwest and Northeast U.S. Formerly, Mann served as project manager at PCI Energy Services where he was responsible for managing a wide range of pipe welding projects. Gerhard E. Delf has joined Turbodyne Technologies Inc. as senior vice president of Dynacharger original equipment manufacturer (OEM) programs. Delf will be responsible for joint development, system integration, and manufacturing of Turbodyne’s Dynacharger product line with turbocharger and automotive manufacturers worldwide. Previously, Delf was chief engineer at Volkswagen America. Media Mark H. Kurtich has been promoted to senior vice president of operations at the Los Angeles Times. He is responsible for all production operations at the Times’ Olympic, San Fernando Valley and Orange County facilities and oversees a staff of more than 1,100. Kurtich has been the Times’ vice president of operations since 1997. Real Estate Real estate mortgage firm Holliday Fenoglio Fowler has expanded its Southern California operations and added three veteran mortgage bankers who will be working out of a new office in Encino. Michael Dorff has served as an independent consultant in real estate investment and mortgage services and as investment specialist for CB Commercial Real Estate Services Inc. Warren D. Griess formerly was president of Warren D. Greiss & Associates. He also is a former major loan placements officer for Center Financial Group in Century City. Arthur Schwartz was an investment officer with Amresco Capital Corp. in Los Angeles. He has also served as vice president of ARCS Commercial Mortgage Co. John J. Kerin, senior vice president and managing director at Marcus & Millichap, will be the division manager for the newly consolidated Southern California offices. These include the Newport Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Diego and Encino offices. Kerin will continue to be based in the Los Angeles office. Retail Peggy Wimberley has been named general manager of Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks. She will be responsible for managing and marketing the 590,680-square-foot shopping center. Prior to her new position, Wimberley was general manager of Prime Real Estate LP’s Oxnard factory outlet where she had similar responsibilities.
