The Los Angeles City Planning Department and Los Angeles World Airports are holding a public hearing to discuss the Van Nuys Airport Master Plan on Thursday, February 24 at 7 p.m. Last November, the Airport Commission approved a plan that would allow for growth while reserving 35 acres for quieter, propeller-driven aircraft on the west side of the airport. New development would be directed to the northern and eastern sides of the field. In general, the master plan guides development at the airport for the next 20 years. The master plan will have to navigate through the Planning Commission, the mayor’s office and the Council’s planning and transportation committees before it can go before the City Council for final approval. Thursday’s public hearing will be held at the Birmingham High School Performing Arts Auditorium at 17000 Haynes St. in Van Nuys.
