Representatives from the city and county of Los Angeles and Metro gathered in Chatsworth to break ground on the extension of the Orange Line busway. The $215.6 million extension runs from Canoga Park north to the Metrolink station in Chatsworth along a former railroad right-of-way that Metro purchased in the 1990s. Construction is expected to begin first on the Chatsworth Park-and-Ride lot, with the remainder of the project to start by the end of the year. The project is being funded through the half-cent sales tax increase approved by voters through Measure R. Mark R. Madler
