NASA to test state’s air quality

PALMDALE – The state Air Resources Board is taking advantage of a NASA research aircraft already decked out with instrumentation to collect and analyze air samples to conduct a study of the state’s air quality. In a series of four flights that will conclude next week, the DC-8 flying laboratory based at the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility at Air Force Plant 42 will fly over the state and offshore to sample and study various greenhouse gases and other air quality issues. “It’s a very exciting opportunity for the Air Resources Board to gain information,” said Eileen McCauley , a manager in the board’s research division.
