Dole Food Co. issued a voluntary recall of its “Dole Hearts Delight” salads after the E. coli bacteria was found in a bag in Canada, the company announced. The one-half pound bags sold in the U.S. and the 227-gram bags sold in Canada have an expiration date of Sept. 19. No other Dole salad products are involved in the recall. The company is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and several U.S. state health departments, said Dole Fresh Vegetables President Eric Schwartz. Anyone who purchased “Dole Hearts Delight” with production codes A24924A or A24924B and a best if used by date of Sept. 19 should dispose of the product, the company said.
