Occupancies at San Fernando Valley hotels increased 3.6 percent during February, beating the county-wide average increase of 2.1 percent, the hotel trends tracking firm PKF Consulting found. The occupancy rate stood at 77.53 percent for the month, the most recent period for which data is available, compared to 74.81 percent a year ago. Countywide, occupancy rates increased 2.1 percent to 73.74 percent, the study found. In Santa Clarita, which has experienced some of the healthiest occupancy numbers in the region, the rate stood at 73.74 percent, a modest 0.9 percent drop from a year ago. The average room in Santa Clarita cost $125.47, up 6.6 percent during the same 2006 period. In the San Fernando Valley, the average rate was 127.65, a jump of 9.1 percent. Countywide, the average rate stood at $160.93 11.3 percent higher than a year ago.
