Burbank

Crews have been steadily dismantling the hangars near Burbank Airport where the defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. once built the B-6 plane. The Airport Authority has been following a judge’s order that the crews can essentially clear the site, although no new construction will be allowed until the lawsuit has been settled. The clearing, which began early 1997, was intially planned to be done by the end of the year, according to Rick Pruetz, Burbank city planner. Crews are still working on the final few buildings and expect to be completed by next month (FEB). -Joyzelle
