Thousand Oaks Pavilions Named Top Fundraiser

Nonprofit organization Easter Seals named the Pavilions grocery store in Thousand Oaks a top fundraiser in Safeway, Inc.’s April campaign for people with disabilities. The store located at 1135 Lindero Canyon Road had one of the highest fundraising totals in its district during the campaign run by the store’s parent company. During the campaign, 265 Vons and Pavilions stores in Southern California raised more than $1 million for the organization that serves adults and children with autism and other disabilities. “The Pavilions in Thousand Oaks consistently ranks as a top fundraising store during the April campaign for people with disabilities,” said Mark Whitley, CEO of Easter Seals Southern California. “We are grateful to all employees and customers who participate, especially in this challenging economy.” The funds will be used to help Easter Seals provide services that include job training and employment, preschool and afterschool services, autism services and assistance for moving out of institutions and into homes. The organization also helps disabled adults learn daily living and social skills, the statement said. Jessica Selva
