San Fernando Valley Calabasas Money: Digital Insight, a unit of Intuit Corp., launched a new product line designed specifically for cash-flow tracking and, spending, and other financial interface systems already available to those financial institutions that currently use the firm’s banking-system products. Using its successful FinanceWorks as a platform on which to leverage its new offerings, the company hopes to reach new bank and credit union customers by offering them technology previously unavailable without also buying into Digital Insight’s broader software solutions. Sylmar Solutions: Build WorkSource Center sponsors its free 10th semi-annual Business Breakfast on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Los Angeles Mission College. Singles: A group of music industry veterans have launched HOR Entertainment Group, with divisions in records, publishing, merchandising and film and television. “We are planning to sign 12 acts in 3 years and will be a singles driven company,” said President and CEO Larry Lee. “We are working with amazing and talented individuals who know how to make things happen.” Joining Lee at HOR Entertainment are Curt Cuomo, a multi-talented producer, songwriter and musician; Hab Haddad, vice president of new media; Bob Divney; and three-time Grammy nominee Jean Smit. Spicy: Songs To Your Eyes Ltd. has launched a new Latin Music division with its first release being the “Caliente Music” catalogue of Salsa, Cuban, Reggaeton, Latin, Hip Hop, Cocktail and other south of the border sounds. Songs To Your Eyes is making the “Caliente Music” catalogue available for use within television shows, feature films, TV promos, and within other multi-media outlets. “We catalogued the music on ‘Caliente’ in a way that will help editors and music supervisors find what they need fast, by tagging the music with key words that describe what the various offerings sound like,” said company founder Opher Yisraeli. Burbank TV: Cookie Jar Entertainment launched an online video channel that will offer classic and current programming and movies. Jaroo.com was designed to be easily navigated and hosted in a kid-safe, kid-friendly environment, said Kenneth Locker, Senior Vice President Digital Media, Cookie Jar Entertainment. “With kids ages 2 to 11 spending 63% more time online than they did just four years ago (from 7 to 11 hours per month) according to Nielsen NetView, Jaroo.com was created to be a fun online destination committed to providing kids, parents and fans with safe quality programming without the worry of unwholesome content or unsightly ads,” Locker said. Some of the programs available are “Inspector Gadget,” “The Adventures of Paddington Bear,” “Johnny Test,” and “Super Mario Bros.” Studio City Urban: DaBet Music Services signed a multi-year publishing agreement with artist and songwriter Shakim Williams. Shakim, who describes his music as urban “funky gumbo soul rock,” already has experienced commercial success, most notably with his track “Pot of Gold” which was co-written with Akon. The agreement covers songs written primarily by Shakim and performed by him on his soon-to-be-released album featuring such singles as “Hush” and “She Wants Me.” “We see great potential for placement of Shakim’s songs, which are well-suited for opening and closing TV and film themes and equally great for live performance,” said DaBet President Angela Rose White. North Hollywood Tech: An iPhone and iPod touch application is now available featuring characters, music, video and games from The Walt Disney Co. The app will be updated regularly, providing kids and families with instant access to the latest Disney news and entertainment. The app does not merely recreate the Disney.com website on the portable devices, said Jason Davis, vice president, Disney.com. “Features like ‘Click2Life’ utilize iPhone’s revolutionary functionality to create exciting new ways to interact with Disney characters and content,” Davis said. Conejo Valley Firm: Mustang Marketing added Community Bank to its roster as the 750th client.
