Amgen Adds Former Northrop CEO to Board

The former chairman of aerospace and military contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. has been appointed to serve on the Amgen board of directors. Ronald D. Sugar will serve on the biotech giant’s Compensation and Management Development Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee. Sugar served as chairman and CEO of Northrop from 2003 to 2009 and previously was president and chief operating officer from 2001 to 2003. He has been a director of Chevron Corporation since 2005. Previously, Sugar was president, chief operating officer and a director of Litton Industries, chief financial officer of TRW Inc., and president and chief operating officer of TRW Aerospace. His appointment brings the number of Amgen board members to 14.
