21st Century Auto Insurance began selling policies in Texas this week, taking advantage of recent changes in the state’s insurance regulations. Woodland Hills-based 21st Century is hoping to lure customers with lower rates than established auto insurance companies. Along with its Texas launch, 21st Century published “The Consumer Guide to Buying Texas Auto Insurance,” which compares rates offered by the state’s ten largest auto insurers. The company also opened customer service center in Lewisville, TX with over 150 employees. In December of 2004, a state senate bill changed the face of the Texas insurance market. Before, the state lumped drivers into a handful of broad categories, but the bill eliminated those restrictions, making it easier for companies to offer competitive rates.
