Vanessa Hudgens’ Drink Expands East

Caliwater, a cactus-based beverage company headquartered in Encino, plans to expand into East Coast retail spaces, hitting shelves at more than 30 new stores.

The company, launched last year originally as an e-commerce brand, was co-founded by Oliver Trevena and Vanessa Hudgens, the star of Walt Disney Co.’s “High School Musical” movies. Hudgens’ most recent film “Tik ,Tik … Boom!” was released into theaters in November.

The organic beverage, offered in flavors Ginger & Lime and Wild Prickly Pear, is now available in the beverage section of Village Super Market Inc. for $2.99 per can.

“We are so thrilled to be able to continue to bring our cactus water beverage to new customers and clientele, a beverage that will truly benefit their daily lifestyle and diet with all of its health benefits and delicious, hydrating flavor,” read a statement from Trevena and Hudgens. “We appreciate Village Supermarkets sharing in our vision of this important functional beverage as the wellness landscape continues to evolve in the beverage category.”

Village Super Market, a New Jersey-based company, is a retail chain consisting of 29 ShopRite supermarkets, five Fairway Markets and three Gourmet Garage specialty markets located across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland.

The beverage is currently available on Amazon.com Inc.’s website and in Erewhon markets on the West Coast.
