Valley Economic Alliance to Hold Open Events on Economic Development, Education and Housing

The Valley Economic Alliance announced Thursday three scheduled community events to connect business owners and Valley leadership on the topics of economic development, education and housing.

The free meetings, to be held in February, will be open to the public and feature panel discussions with local business and nonprofit executives “intended to spotlight three of the region’s most urgent issues,” according to a statement from the alliance.

“As tempting as it may be to narrow their focus solely on internal operations, business owners need to influence the economic environment in which they’re operating and anticipate upcoming opportunities if we are going to drive regional economic growth,” Sonya Kay Blake, chief executive of the alliance, said in a statement.

The Economic Development Committee Meeting will be held Feb. 3, with economists from the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. presenting data on local employment and market trends.

On Feb. 8, financial service professionals from BPS Financial Services and Miller Kaplan, among others, will discuss education and workforce development, lowering business expenses and leveraging taxes for growth.

Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission will be featured on Feb. 17 in a discussion on homelessness, spotlighting the tiny home model of temporary housing which has expanded throughout the region.
