Providence Names New Chief for Tarzana Hospital

Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center has chosen one of its own executives – Nicholas Lymberopoulos – to be its new chief executive following an 8-month-long national search, the hospital announced Thursday.Lymberopoulos has served as chief operating officer for Providence Tarzana for more than four years, Providence said, and is set to take on his new role March 29. He has more than 28 years of experience as a health care leader with expertise in finance and operations.Former chief executive Dale Surowitz officially left the role in September; he currently serves as chief executive of the Los Angeles Jewish Home in Reseda. Dr. Bernard Klein, chief executive of Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, has been interim CEO of the Tarzana hospital while the search continued.Lymberopoulos will lead the hospital’s ambitious $644 million Tarzana Reimagined construction project, which includes a five-story patient tower, outpatient services and enlarged emergency department scheduled to be completed in 2023. A $50 million gift – called the largest ever to a Providence hospital in California – for the project was announced Monday."Nick Lymberopoulos brings a deep background with the medical center and a distinguished record of success to this critical leadership role," Thomas Priselac, chief executive of Cedars-Sinai, said in a statement. The Tarzana hospital is a joint venture between Cedars-Sinai and Providence.Added Lymberopoulos: “I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity to serve our hospital, our caregivers and our community. Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana is fast becoming a destination hospital as we advance our level of care to new heights and I’m humbled to lead that growth.”
