Los Angeles City Planning Commission has approved a proposed mixed-use apartment complex in Sherman Oaks. The new complex from developer Chandler Partners and designed by Sherman Oaks-based Kalban Architects, will rise at 15027-15033 W. Ventura Blvd. The six-story building will contain 33 one- and two-bedroom apartments above a 49-vehicle partially subterranean parking lot and 2,300 square feet of ground-floor retail. Four of the apartments have been earmarked for low-income households. The mixed-use project will replace what is currently a commercial building and parking lot at that site. The complex may benefit from incoming mass transit as it is located just east of Ventura and Sepulveda boulevards, where Metro’s $13.8 billion Sepulveda Pass transit project may include a new elevated heavy rail station. Based out of Los Angeles, Chandler Partners has a history of creating contemporary multifamily edifices with amenities as well as office buildings in the East Valley and Tri-Cities. Previous projects include Studio 77 in North Hollywood, a 156-unit apartment complex completed in 2016; Onyx in Glendale, a six-story building with 183 units completed in 2017; and Studio Plaza in Burbank, a 420,000-square-foot 2004 office building designed by Gensler.
