Los Angeles Community College District Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez has nominated Barry Gribbons for the position of president at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys. The school’s trustees are expected to approve the nomination at a meeting on Wednesday. If approved, Gribbons is expected start Aug. 15. Gribbons said in a statement he is honored to have been selected. “Valley’s dedicated faculty, staff and administrators have a tradition of providing access to strong programs,” he added. “I’m excited to join with them as they celebrate their 70th year of exceptional higher education programs in service to our students and the surrounding community.” Gribbons is currently deputy chancellor at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, a position he has held since 2015. He previously worked as assistant superintendent, vice president and dean at the school, totaling 19 years of service there. His resume also includes stints at UCLA, USC and California State University – Los Angeles.
