After months of negotiations and a near strike earlier this month, the nurses of SEIU Local 121 RN have ratified their contract with Pacifica Hospital of the Valley on Monday. The Sun Valley hospital and nurses union reached a tentative agreement at a bargaining session Feb. 28, according to Pacifica. Before the agreement, nurses planned a 10-day strike set to begin March 5. “From the beginning of contract negotiations, PHV has sought an agreement with our nurses that was fair and reasonable for our nurses and sustainable for the hospital and the community,” Precious Mayes, chief executive of Pacifica Hospital, said in a statement. “We are optimistic that this agreement will usher in a new era of collaboration and goodwill between nurses and administrators.” The union represents more than 200 nurses at Pacifica.
