Hyundai Sells First Fuel Cell SUV in Van Nuys

Keyes Hyundai has sold the first Nexo hydrogen-powered vehicle to a Ventura resident. Todd Hochrad took delivery of the only mass-produced fuel cell sport utility from the Van Nuys dealership on Friday. With a range of 380 miles, the Nexo is the flagship vehicle of Hyundai’s environmental car portfolio. In a press release from Hyundai, Hochrad was described as an atypical car buyer yet the sort of customer looking to drive a zero-emission, hydrogen-powered vehicle. He purchased his first hybrid vehicle more than 15 years ago and has driven electric vehicles as well, the release said. In addition to hydrogen fuel cells, the Nexo uses ecological materials in its construction. They include soybean-oil based polyurethane paint, bamboo-thread-based fabric, and bio-plastic and bio-carpet made from sugar cane.
