Four community colleges in the San Fernando Valley will offer a cloud computing certificate program through a partnership with Amazon.com Inc.’s Amazon Web Services. The Valley schools that will offer the program are Glendale College, Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles Valley College in Valley Glen and Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar, according to an announcement made Thursday by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp.’s Center for a Competitive Workforce. The 15-credit curriculum will be focused on giving students the training they need for jobs in the fast-growing cloud computing market, the value of which is expected to reach $159 billion by 2020, according to market data provider Statista. The program also will include curriculum development workshops and trainings on the Amazon Web Services cloud computing platform. Additionally, participants will get access to AWS Educate, Amazon Web Services’ online resource center for those interested in cloud computing careers. The partnership with Amazon will include a total of 19 community colleges in the greater Los Angeles market.
