The Valley Economic Alliance has announced its annual job fair for veterans will be held at the Los Angeles Valley College on Feb. 15. This will be the Sherman Oaks business development group’s 10th “Hero Hire” job and resource fair. It is the alliance’s way of giving help and recognition to military veterans for their service. “Just amazing how many people want to help our recently returned veterans,” said Kenn Phillips, president and chief executive officer of the alliance. “We believe that the recent returning veterans are veteran heroes. This is our way of giving back to them.” The job fair anticipates more than 500 veterans will attend and there will be more than 1,000 job openings from participating employers. About 60 employers are expected to participate, some being Lyft, Bankers Life, Southern California Gas Co. and the Valley Economic Development Center. Veterans can apply for entry-, middle- and upper-level jobs. Employers will be taking resumes, interviewing candidates and hiring at the event. “Everyone is looking for talent right now,” Phillips said. “I believe they will not only find it for veterans but for people who are looking for jobs.” The job fair is open to veterans but also to people of the community.
