Kaiser Permanente Awards $250,000 to Valley Nonprofits

Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center has recognized 25 San Fernando Valley nonprofit organizations with $250,000 in grant funds. The medical center announced Wednesday the 25 organizations receiving grants for community benefit funding. A few of the community agencies include The Center for Individual and Family Counseling, Center for Living and Learning, A Community of Friends, and Community Integration Services. “We are very thrilled to be a grant recipient for the Kaiser foundation,” Bob Erio, chief operating officer at Community Integration Services in Granada Hills, told the Business Journal. “Kaiser has supported us to do case management, diabetes management and weight management studies, and provided food security for 200 high-need seniors that happen to be from a Latino community.” Kaiser Permanente awarded grants to organizations committed to early detection and treatment of chronic disease, expanding access to care for lower-income individuals and improving physical and nutritional health in local communities. “Creating healthy communities is central to Kaiser Permanente’s mission and critical to individual health and wellness. In the San Fernando Valley, our grants give financial support for local nonprofit health and human service organizations with an emphasis on underserved populations,” Payman Roshan, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center, said in a statement.
