Katzenberg Raises Funds for New Venture

Former DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg has raised nearly $600 million for a new venture, according to a federal filing. Documents filed Thursday with the Securities & Exchange Commission showed that Katzenberg raised $591 million from 18 investors for WndrCo LLC, based in Beverly Hills. Katzenberg and former DreamWorks Animation chief operating officer Ann Daly were listed as executive officers and directors of the company. Katzenberg sold DreamWorks Animation to Comcast last year in a deal valued at about $3.8 billion. His take from the sale was more than $390 million. He stepped down as chief executive of the Glendale animation studio and was named chairman of DreamWorks New Media, comprised of the company’s ownership interests in Awesomeness TV and NOVA, a backend technology venture that DreamWorks started in 2015. DreamWorks Animation became part of Comcast’s Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, which includes Universal Pictures, Fandango and NBCUniversal Brand Development, based in Universal City.
