Burbank has received two awards from the International Economic Development Council for last year’s campaign to promote the city and its businesses. The city was awarded a silver award in Excellence in Economic Development in General Purpose Print Promotion for its 2015 marketing campaign. It also won a bronze Special Purpose Website award for the same campaign. The website and print efforts were part of Burbank’s overall economic development campaign that portrayed the city as the world’s top home for the media and entertainment industry with more than 1,000 relevant companies. The print campaign included a leasing packet and advertising for commercial real estate brokers, property owners and developers. The council recognized the materials for their contemporary design, high-quality photography and concise copy. Accompanying advertisements ran in business journals, shopping center publications and online and highlighted the city’s entertainment culture, incentives, demographics, creative environment, access and four major commercial neighborhoods with their distinct industry profiles. IEDC awarded Burbank the bronze award for its travel-oriented website, VisitBurbank.com, which positions the city as easily accessible to other L.A. area attractions. It was cited for contributing to a 5 percent boost in hotel occupancy levels over the prior year, as well as a 7 percent increase in average daily rates. IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards were presented on Sept. 27 during the organization’s annual conference in Cleveland.
