Robert Pfeifer, founder of drug and alcohol rehabilitation center Sober College, unexpectedly died of a heart attack, leaving his wife and co-founder Mindi Levins Pfeifer to decide the fate of their business. The Woodland Hills facility’s unique business model caters to substance abusers between the ages of 18 and 26 and incorporates education into the curriculum to keep these young adults on course. Prior to his passing, Sober College was in the midst of expansion, incorporating facilities in the San Diego area and finishing up construction on its brand new state-of-the-art Therapeutic Learning Center in Woodland Hills. In a state of shock, Pfeifer chose fight over flight, taking the reins of Sober College and continuing with her husband’s mission — to help young people in recovery.
