Amgen Names New Operations Manager

Amgen Inc. on Friday announced that the company has appointed Esteban Santos as its new executive vice president of operations, beginning July 25. In his new role, Santos will be responsible for managing the company’s manufacturing, engineering, process development and global supply chain operations. He will report directly to Chief Executive Robert Bradway. In his previous position at the Thousand Oaks biotech, Santos was senior vice president of manufacturing, responsible for worldwide product supply. “Esteban is a talented leader with a proven track record,” Bradway said in a statement. “I’m confident Esteban and our operations team will maintain our track record of industry-leading performance in serving ‘every patient, every time’ as we expand globally, launch new products and introduce our next-generation of biomanufacturing technologies.” Santos will be replacing Madhavan Balachandran, who is retiring at the end of this year. Amgen shares closed up $1.03 or a fraction of 1 percent to $150.65 on the Nasdaq.
