Government Association Awards Scholarships to Area Students

Three students from the Los Angeles and Ventura counties were chosen to receive scholarships from the Southern California Association of Governments. Mayra Maturana, of Lancaster; Emily Warner, of Lancaster; and Danna Morgan Seligman, of Newbury Park were chosen from a pool of more than 150 applicants. Seven students in total received the scholarships. Each student receives $2,000 and will participate in a two-week externship at a local planning agency during the summer. In July, the recipients will also visit the association to meet local elected officials and learn about the career of urban planning. “The Southern California Association of Governments is proud to award this scholarship to these very deserving students,” Highland City Councilman Larry McCallon, the association’s president.
