Warner Strikes DVD Deal in China

Warner Home Video will distribute DVDs from Paramount and DreamWorks Animation in China as a way to fight piracy and establish a legitimate video business in the country, the company announced. “Shrek the Third” and “Transformers” are the first two titles to hit retail shelves. CAV Warner Home Entertainment, a joint distribution venture between Warner Home Video and China Audio Video, will work with retailers in 50 cities and up to 20,000 outlets. “By providing a wide selection of high quality, competitively priced DVDs, we will be offering consumers a more attractive alternative to lower quality, pirated product,” said Mark Horak, of Warner Home Video.
