Steve Nissen Selected as LAEDC Chairman

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. has selected longtime Valley executive Steve Nissen as its new chairman. He replaces outgoing chair Dianne Harrison, president of California State University – Northridge. Nissen is known in the Valley for leading the legal and government affairs operation for NBCUniversal in Universal City. He retired from the company in January after 12 years, but has continued working as a consultant through his company Nissen Consulting Group. He sits on the board of one of California’s largest charities, the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, and formerly held a seat on the board of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association. Nissen has been involved with LAEDC’s executive committee and board of governors for 15 years, most recently serving as vice chair. He will serve a one-year term as chairman of the organization ending June 30, 2021. Additional staffing changes at Los Angeles-based LAEDC include the promotion of Executive Vice President Stephen Cheung as chief operating officer, and the election of Rudy Medina, president of U.S. Bank’s Southern California market, as vice chair.
