Glendale attorney and Councilman Zareh Sinanyan has been appointed to represent the city on the board of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
Sinanyan is a civil litigator who runs a private law practice in Glendale. He has been involved in local politics since 2006, and spearheaded the formation of the Glendale Economic Development Corp. during his tenure as mayor from 2014 to 2015. Sinanyan currently serves as the chair of the Glendale Housing Authority, as vice chair of the Eco-Rapid Transit authority and secretary of the Burbank/Pasadena/Glendale Airport Authority.
Sinanyan replaces previous Glendale representative Assemblywoman Laura Friedman who served on the 36-member board since 2009.
