Adult Producer Wins Contract Case

A jury awarded $141,000 to adult entertainment producer Mitchell Hartwell for breach of contract by distributor Red Light District. The verdict concluded a two week trial in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Chatsworth of a lawsuit filed by Hartwell and his production company Erik Everhard Entertainment alleging breach of contract by Red Light District and one of its umbrella companies. Hartwell claimed in the suit that Red Light District would not sell his product and then went back on its word and sold his titles through Red Light Distribution, industry publication XBiz reported. Hartwell turned down a $100,000 settlement offer by Red Light prior to the start of the trial, XBiz said. As a result of the suit, Hartwell gained control of the 23 titles he produced and owned when at Red Light, XBiz said.
