AmaWaterways Christens New River Cruiser

AmaWaterways has christened river cruise ship AmaLea with a ceremony in Vilshofen, Germany. The Calabasas company now has four ships that will sail seven-night cruises on the Danube River between Vilshofen and Budapest during the summer and fall. The ceremony featured the raising of a traditional Bavarian maypole, a dockside cocktail reception, religious blessing and local entertainment. AmaWaterways President and Co-Owner Rudi Schreiner, Executive Vice President and Co-Owner Kristin Karst and Capt. Jan de Bruijn assisted the ship’s Godmother Filomena Andre of AAA Travel with the traditional ship christening by champagne. The AmaLea accommodates 154 guests with connecting staterooms and triple occupancy staterooms designed for multi-generational families. Guests can enjoy a heated sun deck swimming pool with a swim-up bar, a fitness center and spa, and a fleet of bicycles onboard for guests to enjoy excursion in port. “We look forward to welcoming many guests onboard this beautiful ship as she sails through the charming towns that sit along the banks of some of the most beautiful rivers in all of Europe,” Schreiner said in a statement. The christening took place May 26.
