Princess Appoints Captain for Chinese Ship

Princess Cruises has named Capt. Dino Sagani the master of Majestic Princess, the company’s first vessel built for the Chinese market. Sagani has worked for the Santa Clarita cruise line for 21 years as commander of Sea Princess, Sapphire Princess, Diamond Princess and Royal Princess ships. He previously served in the Italian navy. In his new position, he will lead an officer team with more than 100 years of seagoing experience among them. “We’re thrilled to appoint such experienced captains to our new cruise ship destined for China,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises. “These skilled officers bring considerable seagoing and management skills and we know they will deliver an exceptional and memorable cruise vacation experience to all Majestic Princess guests.” Majestic Princess will be home-ported in Shanghai with a capacity for 3,560 guests. It is scheduled to set sail in early 2017.
