ZPower Inc. announced a partnership to bring the wireless charging technology of Energous Corp. to its silver-zinc micro-batteries. Financial terms of the deal between the Camarillo micro-battery manufacturer and Energous, the San Jose developer of the WattUp wireless charging system, were not disclosed. Tim Powers, vice president of business development at ZPower, said the company was excited to work with Energous as the WattUp system is well-suited for its miniature batteries. “Not only does it scale to fit into our micro-batteries, but it also supports spatial freedom when implemented into our batteries and used in devices,” Powers said in a statement. “This is a major advantage that other wireless charging solutions just don’t offer.” ZPower makes its micro-batteries from recyclable materials for use in hearing aids and sleep buds. The company employs more than 400 workers at three buildings in an industrial park in Ventura County that totals about 80,000 square feet. Last year ZPower ranked No. 1 on the Business Journal’s list of Fastest Growing Private Companies with three-year revenue growth of 13,847 percent to $26.5 million in 2017.
