AT&T Workers Picket Local Stores

AT&T Inc. workers who are members of the Communications Workers of America walked off the job in 36 states today, with hundreds picketing at the telecom giant’s stores in Burbank and Santa Clarita. A representative from the union told the Business Journal workers would picket locally at 350 N. San Fernando Blvd. in Burbank and 26453 Bouquet Canyon Blvd. in Santa Clarita. The national strike is scheduled to last three days and could involve as many as 40,000 workers. The workers are protesting AT&T’s “failure to present serious proposals that invest in good jobs,” according to the union. The company has said in a statement it is working to reach a deal. AT&T has proposed to acquire Time Warner Inc., owner of Warner Bros. Entertainment in Burbank, for $85.4 billion. The acquisition is under review by the Department of Justice.
