Simulations Plus Inc. announced a 17.6 percent increase in revenue in conjunction with its preliminary results for the fiscal first quarter of 2016 on Thursday. The Lancaster pharmaceutical software developer did not report net income or earnings per share, but said its revenues were $4.81 million in the quarter. Revenue exceeded average analyst expectations of $4.52 million, according to Thomson Financial Network. John Kneisel, chief financial officer, said the preliminary results were part of the company’s policy of timely reports to stockholders. “This is the first quarter where we have truly comparable results, showing pure organic growth of the combined entity since our acquisition of our Buffalo division (Cognigen),” Kneisel said in a statement. The company expects to file its quarterly report on Jan. 14. Shares closed up 9 cents, or nearly 1 percent, to $9.53 on the Nasdaq.
