Serviz, an on-demand provider of home repair services, has been acquired by competitor Porch, the companies announced. Financial terms of the deal between Serviz in Sherman Oaks and Porch in Seattle were not disclosed. Serviz was founded in 2014 by Zorik Gordon, the former chief executive of online marketing firm ReachLocal. It provides an online platform for scheduling and payment to handymen, plumbers and electricians, carpet cleaners and appliance repair services. Porch, which started in 2013, works in a similar space of matching home repair professionals with homeowners. The company has partnerships with large retailers including Walmart and Lowe’s. “It became very clear that the strategic fit of the two companies would be a big win for our customers and our business,” Porch Chief Executive Matt Ehrlichman told the Puget Sound Business Journal regarding the acquisition. The acquisition will allow Serviz “to reach more customers, provide them with a better service and ultimately generate more work for the home-service professionals who have fueled our business growth,” Serviz General Manager Jason Whitt said in a statement.
