Air quality instrumentation manufacturer Teledyne API has released a new product that can measure fine particulate matter that creates reduced visibility and haze in urban areas. The Model T640 PM Mass Monitor from Teledyne API, in San Diego, has been certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the company is pursuing international certifications for the device, including in China and India, countries with poor air quality. Teledyne API is a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Inc. in Thousand Oaks. General Manager Martin Abbott said the new instrument serves a growing market to produce more accurate measurements of particulate matter below 2.5 microns in diameter. Teledyne API has sold several hundred particulate monitoring instruments in both the U.S. and abroad. “We expect this momentum to accelerate based on the incredible rate of adoption we have seen in the U.S. EPA national monitoring network, and as the instrument receives the required international regulatory approvals,” Abbott said in a prepared statement. Shares of Teledyne (TDY) closed Monday up $1.17 or less than a percent to $180.19 on the New York Stock Exchange.
