A former Amazon.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp. executive will join the board of BlackLine Inc., effective April 1. Mika Yamamoto brings to the board of the Woodland Hills accounting software developer more than 20 years of marketing, strategy and operations experience. BlackLine Chief Executive Therese Tucker said that Yamamoto has expertise in translating data analysis and trends into actionable customer engagement. “She brings a wealth of expertise to BlackLine’s board, having helped several industry leaders build their brands in sectors spanning cloud technology to blue-chip enterprise tech and even consumer-facing brick-and-mortar retail,” Tucker said in a statement. Yamamoto was most recently global president of marketing automation at software developer Marketo Inc., in San Mateo. As head of marketing and merchandising at Amazon, she helped the e-commerce retailer establish it first Amazon Books store. For six years she worked at Microsoft in a variety of channel and product management roles. Yamamoto’s appointment was announced Monday. On Tuesday, shares of BlackLine (BL) closed up $1.24, or more than 2 percent, to $47.94 on the Nasdaq.
