Music rights management firm Haawk has acquired two companies, the Studio City startup announced Wednesday. The acquisition targets, TuneRegistry and Royalty Claim, will enable Haawk to expand its services to independent musicians and do-it-yourself rights holders. The sites help creators protect and monetize their work online. In conjunction with the acquisitions, Haawk has appointed TuneRegistry and Royalty Claim founder Dae Bogan to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Haawk, while Haawk founder Ryan Born will become chairman and chief financial officer. “Haawk’s mission is to create and retrieve newfound revenue for rights holders. Dae Bogan and the teams behind TuneRegistry and Royalty Claim are the perfect fit for our company,” Born said in a statement. In September, Haawk secured $2.5 million in venture capital from Rincon Venture Partners in Santa Barbara; Wavemaker Partners and Frontier Venture Capital, both in Santa Monica; and Apex Venture Partners in Chicago.
