Raman is an urban planner, a mother of twin first-graders, an immigrant and a city councilmember representing District 4. Since winning her election in November 2020, she has prioritized homelessness. With the largest homelessness team in City Hall, her office has brought more than 500 people indoors. She is chair of the Housing and Homelessness Committee, vice chair of the newly formed Ad Hoc Committee on Governance Reform, and member of the Transportation, Energy and Environment and Public Works committees. She represents Los Angeles on the governing board of the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
