Lee was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in a special election in August 2019 and re-elected to his first full term the following March. In partnership with the nonprofit The Change Reaction, he launched a small business-relief fund that provides zero-interest loans to struggling businesses. The fund has provided about $700,000 in loans to 60 small businesses in the northwest San Fernando Valley. He is the chair of the Public Works Committee, vice chair of the
Public Safety Committee, vice chair of the Neighborhoods and
Community Enrichment Committee and a member of the Planning and Land Use Management committee as well as the Housing and Homelessness committee.
