Blumenfield has represented the San Fernando Valley on the Los Angeles City Council since 2013. He previously served in the State Assembly. He helped lead Los Angeles through the Covid-19 pandemic by opening up some of the largest testing and vaccination sites in the city, crafting laws to support local businesses, and supporting health care workers and more. As the new chair of the Budget, Finance and Innovation Committee, Blumenfield secured a balanced $13 billion budget that addresses the homelessness crisis and invests further in public safety, unarmed crisis response teams, climate change efforts and infrastructure. His signature efforts include Reseda Rising and the Canoga Park Cultural Arts Hub.
