Rajan became president of Santa Clarita-based CalArts in 2017 and is in the early stages of creating a lab for arts and media using the latest technologies, including encryption and distributed computing. Under his guidance, the institution has created pipelines for underrepresented artists to receive financial assistance, paid internships and employment offers upon graduation. Prior to CalArts, Rajan held multiple leadership roles at Purchase College, State University of New York. In his final six years there he was dean overseeing the six arts divisions. He has degrees from Yale University and the University of Oklahoma. He has been a member of the Tony Awards Nominating Committee.
