Honda heads Northridge-based D.S. Honda Construction, which he founded in 1980. One notable early project was the Japanese American National Museum. Very active in the community, Honda has served on the Los Angeles Planning Commission, was chair of California State University – Northridge Foundation and president of United Chambers of Commerce, among other affiliations. He had top leadership roles at the Valley Economic Alliance, Rotary Club of Van Nuys and the Fernando Award Foundation. He won the Fernando Award in 2009. He is on the board of CSUN’s Autonomy Research Center for STEAHM, a NASA-sponsored project to work on the Mars Rover and helicopter.
