EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This year’s List provides a stark insight into the state of professional staffing amidst the current economic recession. Ranked by the number of workers placed annually (and then weekly) in 2009, only six companies reported an increase in numbers while eight showed declines when compared to last year. The twenty companies that appear here are both local and national organizations that encompass a wide variety of industries. The lower figures being reported display how hard times concerning employment have been felt all across the board. – By Josh Dausch THE PACESETTER For the fourth year in a row, Woodland Hills-based Mediscan Staffing Services tops the List with 63,633 workers placed in 2009. Though it suffered a drop in placements from the year previous, Mediscan’s specialization in the field of healthcare-related services helped maintain its no. 1 ranking. Appropriately matching that status, Mediscan is also the largest employer among Valley-area staffing companies with 550 local employees and 2,000 nationwide.
