EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The largest money management companies in the greater San Fernando Valley area are represented here by both national and local firms. This is the first year the Business Journal has published a ranked List of such companies. They are ranked by the total amount of assets managed in 2010. Where available, the portfolio breakdown displays what type of assets each firm specializes in. CB Richard Ellis (No. 3) and American Realty Advisors (No. 4) are both predominantly real estate driven, while the rest of the List is made up of firms with more diversified portfolios. Banks are also represented here by City National (No. 2) and Wells Fargo (No. 5) because both offer asset management in addition to traditional services. – By Josh Dausch THE PACESETTER The No. 1 ranked firm on the Business Journal’s inaugural money management List is New York-based BNY Mellon Wealth Management with a total of $161 billion in assets managed in 2010. The company officially formed in 2007 with the merger of The Bank of New York and the Pittsburgh-based Mellon Financial Corporation. The western branch of their wealth management division handles a minimum of $2 million in assets per account and carries out a variety of financial management tasks. These include investment, estate planning, and private banking options to individuals and families of high net worth. The local branch is located in Los Angeles but provides services to the greater Valley region. – By Josh Dausch Download the 2011 SF VALLEY’S LARGEST MONEY MANAGEMENT FIRMS list (pdf)
